Important: Read these disclaimers carefully before relying on any information from the Casetimator service. They explain what Casetimator is, what it isn't, and the limits of what it can tell you.

1. Casetimator is not a law firm

Casetimator™ is a software tool that provides estimated dollar ranges for personal injury cases. It is a product of LawSHIFT, Inc. — an AI infrastructure and consultancy company that serves personal injury law firms.

Casetimator is not a law firm. It does not employ attorneys for the purpose of representing you. It does not provide legal services. Nothing on the Service is offered or intended as legal representation.

2. Nothing here is legal advice

The information provided by Casetimator — including your Casetimate, the "What matters from here" guide, the FAQ, blog content, and any other content on the Service — is for informational purposes only.

It does not constitute legal advice. It cannot be relied upon as legal advice. You should not act, or refrain from acting, based on information provided by Casetimator alone.

For advice about your specific legal situation, consult a qualified personal injury attorney licensed in your state.

3. No attorney-client relationship

Using the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Casetimator, LawSHIFT, Inc., or anyone associated with them.

Even if you opt to be connected with an attorney through the Service, no attorney-client relationship exists between you and that attorney until you and the attorney explicitly agree to one — typically through a signed engagement letter.

Communications you send through the Service are not protected by attorney-client privilege.

4. The estimate is statistical, not specific

Your Casetimate is a statistical range generated from a dataset of historical jury verdicts and settlements. It reflects how cases with broadly similar characteristics — accident type, injury severity, jurisdiction, treatment received — have resolved in the past.

The Casetimate is a statistical estimate, not a case-specific valuation. It does not — and cannot — account for many factors that affect real cases, including:

  • The specific facts unique to your case
  • Liability disputes and comparative fault
  • Insurance policy limits
  • The strength and admissibility of available evidence
  • Witness credibility and availability
  • Court venue and judge assignment
  • The skill and strategy of opposing counsel
  • Negotiation tactics and timing
  • Your own preferences about settlement vs. trial

An attorney who reviews the specifics of your case may arrive at a substantially different valuation. Your actual case may resolve for an amount higher or lower than your Casetimate.

5. Statute of limitations warning

This is critical. Every U.S. state has a statute of limitations governing personal injury claims — a hard deadline by which you must take legal action. If you wait too long, your claim may be permanently barred regardless of its merit.

The Casetimator Service is not a substitute for timely action. While we provide general timeline information, it is your responsibility to consult an attorney about the specific deadlines applicable to your situation. Casetimator is not responsible for any claim barred by the expiration of a statute of limitations.

6. Beta status

Casetimator is currently in beta. The Service, the underlying model, and the data informing the estimates are subject to ongoing refinement.

Estimates produced today may differ from estimates the same Service produces tomorrow as the model improves and new data is incorporated. We may also temporarily suspend or modify the Service without notice.

By using the beta Service, you accept these limitations.

7. Use at your own risk

By using the Service, you acknowledge that:

  • The Casetimate is informational only
  • You should not make legal, financial, or settlement decisions based solely on the Casetimate
  • You should consult a qualified attorney before any settlement, claim filing, or other legal action
  • Casetimator and LawSHIFT, Inc. are not liable for any decisions you make based on information from the Service
  • The risk of relying on the Casetimate is yours alone

8. We strongly recommend consulting an attorney

A qualified personal injury attorney who has reviewed the specifics of your case can:

  • Evaluate liability and identify all potentially liable parties
  • Quantify damages including future medical costs, lost earning capacity, and non-economic damages
  • Negotiate with insurance carriers on your behalf
  • Litigate your claim if necessary
  • Protect your interests across the entire process
  • Advise you on the specific deadlines and procedures applicable in your state

Casetimator can help you understand the broad outlines of your case before that conversation. It cannot replace it.

9. Data sources & limitations

The Casetimator model is informed by a dataset of historical personal injury jury verdicts and settlements drawn from publicly available sources, court records, and licensed legal data providers. We update the dataset on a regular basis.

Limitations of any historical dataset apply, including:

  • Past results may not predict future outcomes — case law, insurance practices, and jury attitudes evolve
  • Settlement amounts are often confidential and underrepresented in public sources
  • The dataset may contain reporting errors, gaps, or biases that affect estimates
  • Our model approximates rather than precisely matches your case's specific characteristics

We make no representation or warranty about the completeness or accuracy of the underlying data, only that we work in good faith to use the best data available to us.
